THE HISTORY
Africa Hope Center (AHC) originated under the leadership of Joseph Wamutitu, the founder and Bishop of Christian Missions Fellowship (CMF) in Nairobi, Kenya. After watching the hopelessness and desperation of many children left in the cold after loosing both parents to HIV/AIDS, Rev. Wamutitu and his wife Antoninah, felt it was time to come up with a practical solution.  What followed was a consultation with community leaders, church leadership and some friends in the USA.  After two years of consultation a leadership board  was formed and Africa Hope Center was legally constituted in Kenya in August 2004.  In January 2005 Africa Hope Center opened its doors to the first 5 orphans; thanks to Drs. Scott and Melissa Symington who were very instrumental in this process.

The Africa Hope Center  Children's Home is located in Kayole, Eastland of the city of Nairobi, Kenya, East Africa. The first group of 5 AIDS affected orphans joined the home in January 2005. This number grew gradually and by the end of our first year of operation the home had 23 orphans, both boys and girls ranging from 4 to 16 years. Today the Center is taking care of 90 orphans. What a fulfilment to see the smiles in their faces! Hope, purpose and a future is being restored to kids in a loving community. This has been made possible by our sponsors, friends and partners who, faithfully give in cash and kind. Their generous contributions help to maintain the center and meet the indiviual needs of each child.
The center has 6 full time workers who labour tirelessly to ensure the welfare of the orphans. In addition, the home attracts a host of volunteers who come in occasionally to boost the capacity of the center and provide effective service delivery. Our emphasis is to build our capacity to enable a holistic development of the children.
We provide all the necessities of life namely food, clothing and shelter. Given their special circumstances and the background from which they have come, the orphans also require special attention and counseling. Through sustained counseling programmes they have been able to overcome the stigma associated with HIV/AIDS. We are encouraged to see the results of these programs in their lives.

The orphans are also actively engaged in co-curriculum. Education is not only a vital part of the children's development but is the foundation for their future. Africa Hope Center ensures that the orphans get the best education given the available resources. Thanks to the sponsors, friends and partners who make this possible.
